We found several Yellow Wagtails on this trip. At this location where Council Rd. turns north from the coast we found two Yellow Wagtails.

Nesting Ruddy Turnstone on Arctic tundra

Northern California Birding Transect April 25 - May 3 2011

This photo was taken in Butte Valley, Siskiyou County, Cal. in the shadows of Mt. Shasta. The birding was great ! The raptor population was phenomenal , there are 80 nesting pairs of Swainson's Hawks. In one pasture there 25 Bald Eagles and 9 Golden Eagles !

Eastern Alameda County Christmas Bird Count

This first ever Tri-Valley Christmas Bird Count was a year in the planning. With the help of 70 amazing volunteers, we were able to identify 140 species, in an estimated 5,400 cumulative hours of bird watching. I would like to thank both the Livermore and Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Departments as well as the San Franscico Public Utility Commission for their support in accessing the territory necessary to accomplish detailed count.
